"WALK-ABOUT GAGE COUNTY"

 

"WALK-ABOUT GAGE COUNTY" is a promotion to encourage fun and fitness for the whole family. Sign up for this exciting way to get into the "SPRING" of things by walking the fitness trails of Beatrice and surrounding areas.  April 6th through May 18th

A trail-of-the-week will be highlighted each Saturday of the six weeks to provide  a fun way to walk some of the miles. Do the miles on your own, with a family member, or as a group activity. Do the trail-of-the-week activity and log your miles on your own. The Blue River Trail (starting at Chautauqua Park) will be the kick-off walk available on April 6th at 1:00 pm. PATCH team members will greet you each week with health tips and encouragement to stay with this great activity for fitness. 

GOAL:

* Walk the equivalent of the circumference of Gage County (120 mi.)

* Walk this distance (or as much as you can) during the six weeks

* Walk with a family member, friend, or as a group
    * Log your steps, blocks, or miles and turn in your completed log at the event finale on May 18th or during the week following  at the City Library.

WHEN:

 April 6th - May 18th, 2002

WHO:

Youth, with an adult sponsor (parent, grandparent, neighbor, or adult friend). Adult participants will receive a free pedometer to help them calculate the miles (one pedometer per family).

SIGN-UP:

April 1 - 6 at the Beatrice Public Library, 16th & Court Street. Instruction packets will be available April 4th and 5th 4:00 - 6:00 pm  and April 6th 10:00 am - noon. The "Walk-About Gage County" Trail Walk will "KICK-OFF" April 6th at 1:00 pm.
