"WALK-ABOUT GAGE COUNTY" Final Week (May 18, 2002)
|
|
WOW... What a Nice Day for a Walk!! |
![]() |
| We couldn't have ordered a better day to wrap up our six-week promotion. The weather was perfect and we had a nice turn-out. We realize that everyone had other things they could have been doing on such a nice spring day, like; working in the yard or garden, home fix-up and repair projects, going fishing or any number of other activities, so we really appreciate the dedication of the folks that helped make the final trail walk a success. We had planned to issue t-shirts to all participants on the last day...but, the shirts did not arrive on time, so everyone who signed in on Saturday (the 18th) will get a t-shirt as soon as they come in. After everyone has turned in their logs, we will have a drawing for the many prizes that we have available. The prizes include: pedometers, t-shirts, water bottles and gift certificates. So REMEMBER, turn in your completed log at the City Library before May 24th to be eligible for the drawing. |

We want to thank everyone who helped make this promotion a huge success. Every week we had PATCH member volunteers help participants sign in, help familiarize them with the trail, and to distribute the snacks afterwards. There was a tremendous amount of preparation leading up to the event and we want to give special recognition to Moya Peters for all the work she put in prior to, and during, the event. She helped prepare the grant application that funded the promotion, she promoted the event through the local media, she organized the weekly trail walks, and coordinated the volunteers who helped each week during the six week event. Without her leadership and hard work, the promotion would not have been possible. We also want to thank Barb Fraser and Jamie Hahn, with NE Department of Health & Human Services, for all of their assistance in helping procure the grant and their helpful suggestions on organizing an event like this. We want to recognize the Beatrice Wal-Mart store for donating the water bottles and Beatrice Sertoma and Rotary Club's for donating money to buy the t-shirts. It's great having this kind of support from local organizations like these. Thanks for all your help! As a community, and as fellow PATCH members, we want to take this opportunity to thank PATCH Coordinator, Sharon Langvardt for selflessly donating her time and energy over the years to making PATCH possible in Gage County. Since PATCH's inception in 1986, it has been her leadership and dedication that has made PATCH a valuable source of health and wellness information and promotion throughout Gage County. THANKS SHARON!! |
